PROBLEMS HAVE A PURPOSE

God will use whatever he wants to display his glory. Heavens and stars. History and nations. People and problems. My dying dad in West Texas.

The last three years of his life were scarred by ALS. The disease took him from a healthy mechanic to a bedbound paralytic. He lost his voice and his muscles, but he never lost his faith. Visitors noticed. Not so much in what he said but more in what he didn’t say. Never outwardly angry or bitter, Jack Lucado suffered stately.

His faith led one man to seek a like faith. After the funeral this man sought me out and told me. Because of my dad’s example, he became a Jesus follower.

Did God orchestrate my father’s illness for that very reason? Knowing the value he places on one soul, I wouldn’t be surprised. And imagining the splendor of heaven, I know my father’s not complaining.

A season of suffering is a small assignment when compared to the reward.

Rather than begrudge your problem, explore it. Ponder it. And most of all, use it. Use it to the glory of God. . . .

Your pain has a purpose. Your problems, struggles, heartaches, and hassles cooperate toward one end—the glory of God.

Thor update

Thor is still not doing well. Responded good to mange treatment, but it's the parvo that's killing him. He's having bloody diarrhea and very lethargic. I can't get the vet to call us. We call and talk to a secretary only. Daniel is very sad.
We go tomorrow to take our pets for checkups and preventive treatment. I would like for someone to tell us whether or not at this point if he has a shot at living or are we just grasping at straws and delaying the inevitable...

A new edition to the Foister family...

Meet Thor, a 9 week old German Shepherd puppy. We rescued him from the Morristown Hamblem Animal Shelter yesterday. Daniel and I fell in love with him immediately and knowing how big and what he would look like when he grew older- we named him THOR!!

Moxie and Salvador seem to be tolerating him fairly well with the cat only slinking off and disappearing half the night. After spending the rest of the day with us and into this morn, we noticed that he was not playing and interacting like a puppy should. So we decided to take him to our family Vet. To all of our horrors, we found out that he has the Mange and Parvovirus. Both very contagious and fatal if left untreated. We agreed to start a rigorous plan of meds, fluids, dips and close medical attention. We won't be able to pick him back up until Monday and are trying to leave him in God's hands.

I ask that you pray for little Thor's health and well being and for our sanity as well. God bless you all!

A Tattoo??

I had always had the viewpoint that Tattoos were unsightly and ghastly to look at. A Tattoo conveyed that a person was either a "biker", "satanist" or just plain wrong. It wasn't till recently that I started noticing the beauty of some of the artwork inked on people's flesh. I then noticed that there was going to be a huge Tattoo show within the Star Wars Celebration V convention in Orlando that I was to attend in August 2010. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough money to spend on such a venture.
I returned home with a desire to look into the possibility of getting one locally. After watching 2 seasons of Inked on Netflix and talking with friends at work about their Tats- I went for it. My wife supported my decision and even my Mom did as well. My son just thinks I'm weird!!
I went to the local Tattoo salon to talk with them about me getting my first Ink. I met Sam, who I learned was a huge Star Wars nut like myself. It was going to be appropriate that he would be the one to apply the Tat.
Why did I choose the Mandalorian Mythosaur? It's representative of my love for Star Wars, love of Boba Fett and in honor of the Mandalorian Mercs costuming group of which I am about to join.
The pain of getting my first Tat was about an eight on a scale of 10. Of course, the pain was not constant. It even felt like a massage after awhile. I cocked back in the chair and relaxed, almost falling asleep. It took almost 2 hours to complete. After a week, the Tat started scabbing over which really grossed my wife out. Constant cleaning with an Anti-bacterial soap and application of moisturizing Lubriderm lotion has really helped.
I am very proud to have my Tattoo and have already begun plans for my second and third ones.
I am defiantly Inked till the end!!

Republic Commando:Hard Contact

I had known about the Republic Commando video games for some time and it really never appealed to me. I have enjoyed shoot em up games in the past, but have always strayed away from this particular title.
Several months ago, I had read just about every Star Wars title I own twice and borrowed the ones that I had not from friends- and was growing bored of the current selections. I have always chosen Jedi themed stories and novels because of my affinity for Jedi and their Order. It also has always lent a support to Jedi costuming that I so used to love and enjoy. But eventually boredom sent me looking in a new direction. I came across Hard Contact at the local library and was extremely intrigued. A shoot em up adventure story? Just what I needed!!
I want to include a short paragraph or two from the Wookipedia review, then give my own thoughts at the end.
Republic Commando: Hard Contact is a 293-page tie-in novel to the video game Star Wars: Republic Commando written by Karen Traviss. It tells the story of a squad of clone commandos on a mission to destroy a Separatist bioweapons lab. The commandos (Niner, Fi, Atin, and Darman) are aided by the Gurlanins Jinart and Valaqil, along with an inexperienced Padawan named Etain Tur-Mukan.
Four clone commandos; Niner, Darman, Fi and Atin; are united for the first time to form Omega Squad after the rest of their old squads were killed early in the Clone Wars. Meanwhile on Qiilura, JediPadawan Etain Tur-Mukan hides from the local warlord Ghez Hokan's militia after her master Kast Fulier was killed.

And that where it really gets interesting!! Karen Traviss really has a knack for writing believable characters who are showing emotions and thoughts that are totally what you would expect to see in that type of situation. I mean, here is the first time that Clones are written with deep emotional feelings. The kindred spirits that Omega squad becomes just sets up a thirst for what is to be shown in the next series of RC books.
I was instantly hooked when I finished this first in a series of 4 books and I went in search for the next in the series- Republic Commando:Triple Zero. Little did I know that it would attach me emotionally to a bunch of fictional Commandos and change the way that I wanted to costume forever...

I recently made a choice that may not sit well with certain folks. I have decided to completely renounce myself as a Jedi costumer and take up the mantle as a Mandalorian!
I am still very proud of what I accomplished as the Founder and creator of the International costuming organization-The Jedi Assembly. But after much soul searching, an intense tiredness of the whole "my groups better than yours, a weariness that Jedi costuming brings and a new outlook towards armor- it has come to this. I have given complete control over TJA to Carol Gilbert and the Jedi Council and am in the process of selling almost all of my Jedi costuming resources.
I am very excited to be putting together my very own Mando armor and weaponry. I will be joining the Mandalorian Mercs costuming group in the next couple of months and will be officially unveiling my new look to the public at Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando in August.

May the Force be with the Jedi Assembly and Oya Mand'oa!!

Goodbye 2009 and hello 2010!! I remember thinking as a Youngling that 2010 was "in the future" where cars would fly and far away planets would be explored by man. We're not there yet.

What did 2009 bring us? A very big recession, Govt spending gone crazy, a Socialist President, a revolt from groups of people by the name of TEA (Taxed Enough Already), deaths of celebs like Michael Jackson, a new form of 3-D cinema(Avatar) and 2 close families going thru intense struggles with their marriages.

What did 2009 teach me? That as men we should hold our wives and our marriages even closer to our heart. We cannot let our guards down for even a second. Satan is ready and waiting for our resolve to slip, to devour our partnership with God and our spouses. We must constantly be vigilant!!

2010... I resolve to hold my wife and family even closer. I promise to study God's Word daily. Fitness, eating right and a more positive outlook shall be the norm for me. I shall continue to look for Jesus' return soon for his day IS approaching...

Tomorrow night at 8pm- our United States Senate will vote on whether or not to begin discussion on a 2000 + page Heath care Reform bill. Many of these Senators and Statesmen have NOT read a single page of this huge bill. It is reported that this bill will increase taxes, ration Health Care, fine anyone and possibly jail those who refuse to get health care and quite possibly pave the way for paid Govt abortions. Yes, we do need a restructuring of Health provisions, but not in this way. What can we do? We can start by contacting the below two people:

They are said to be "on the fence" as to whether or not they might vote Yes tomorrow night. They might not be Senators in your state- but you can make your voice heard!! Call, be respectful, make your opinion heard and also make the point that if these "fence riders" do vote Yes to making the bill go further in the Senate- then they will regret their decision and they WILL be voted out of office next election cycle. We ARE the people and we can take this country back from radicalists and from those who spit upon the very Constitution that so many have given their lives to defend.

I would also encourage you to join a group like your local TEA (Taxed Enough Already)Party group, 9/12 group or something that is in league with your values and morals. We must be heard, we MUST live free or die!

In closing, it is our duty to defend our Country both foreign and domestic. Only with God's providence, our faith in him and the ideals of the Constitution set forth by our Founding Fathers can we succeed.

For future elections, we must strive to elect those who support or believe in the following points:
A Strong National Security
Supportive of Tax Cuts and Real fiscal responsibility
Supports Energy Independence
Supports Education
A vow to only support judges who recognize that their job is to interpret the Constitution and not legislate from the bench
Acceptance of their duty and responsibility to educate, inform and remind the American public that with the blessings of freedom comes great responsibility. That Govts primary goal is to preserve, protect and defend our God given gift of freedom. Individual liberty, capitalism, a strong national defense should be a fundamental belief.
Our best days can be before us if our Government will just trust the American people!!

A move to Facebook...

Well, it's definitely been awhile since I have posted on Blogger.
I have been working in Bristol, TN for almost 3 months on a Walmart remodel. I have lived in a Days Inn for 5 days out of 7 per week. I have really missed my wife and kids during this remodel. It's been indescribable... I have missed my son Daniel start Karate and not been around for just basic things and TLC for my wife. I will be sooo glad when this remodel is over.
I have had NO time for costuming or even preparations for the upcoming Dragoncon.
I lost touch with a really close friend...

But thru this all- I have my faith in Jesus Christ, my wife Pamela and son Daniel.

Also, to make my social network work a little smoother- I have decided to rely on Facebook solely for Blogging and day to day updates. I will still leave this Blog intact and perhaps I shall return one day...

Fanboys Movie - Part 1

Well, here it is!! The most anticipated Fan movie about Star Wars called FanBoys. I can't believe it's on YouTube and it just came out on DVD this week. It may not be on YouTube long, so check it out before it pulled.
It does have some great comedic moments in it, smattered with some awesome Star Wars pop culture references and some hilarious cameos. It does disappoint me, however, that it is filled with a LOT of bad, unneccesary language and sexual situations and inuendo.
All in all, I would give it a 7 out of 10 stars. It does relate to that spark of magic that unites the fanboy/girl of Star Wars in all of us and it reminds me of that passion that I have of that Galaxy Far, Far Away.

For those who have kept up with my Facebook status postings over the past few days, I have been nervous, perplexed and confused about a few things at WalMart.
Today was my last day at Greeneville WalMart. Not really though! Starting on Monday at 8am I am to report to the Bristol, TN WalMart for reassignment as they go thru a remodel. I will be there for almost three months. The craziest thing about this is that I will be staying in a hotel Monday-Friday and coming home on the weekends.
I appreciate the support of Pam, Daniel and my Mom and Aunt during this long time away from home. I have the potential to make quite a bit of money during this time. If WalMart offers more money and the possibility of over time, I have to take it!!Keep me in your prayers during this time.
I am so blessed to even have a job and I thank God everyday that I work at WalMart. Also, please keep Pam and Daniel in prayers as this will be the longest span away from each other.

Easter...

The World is in trouble as it always has been. The Economy is in shambles, jobs are failing and unemployment is at an all time high. Sin is rampart and the destruction of morals and marriage based values are degrading each day.

What is the answer to combat these problems? Is it Politicians, Leaders, Movie Stars, Out of the Box thinkers? A huge and resounding NO!!!!

The answer was born over 2000 years ago as God became flesh and entered our world. He lived for 33 years before he gave his life for you and I so that we might be reconciled to himself and our sins forgiven. He is the ONLY answer to our problems. Not a man made answer- but a Son of Man answer.

When times are tough- turn to Jesus. When the laws of God have been broken- turn to Jesus and ask for his never ending forgiveness. When you are laid off and you don't know how you are going to support yourself or your family- turn to Jesus! Whether you are gay, straight, married, not married, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Atheist or Agnostic- God and His son Jesus LOVE you!! He is standing here right now with his arms open waiting for you to accept the gift that he gave while hanging on a cross those many years ago.

Does he tolerate a person's homosexuality, a involvement in another faith or religion or the disbelief in himself or his Father. No. But he can forgive you for those sins and welcome you into his arms forever if you just believe and have Faith that he is there for you now.

This Sunday is Easter 2009. I believe that God came to earth and died on a Roman cross, betrayed by his own people and friends. After three days, he rose from the grave- conquering Death and Hades forever. Satan lost the battle right then and there and can never recover a victory. He then went to Heaven where he awaits the day and time to return to Earth and claim his people unto himself.

Do you know Jesus? If you died today, do you know where you will spend eternity? It’s very simple. We are all sinners. By our nature, our heart runs from God and rebels against him. We are not perfect and can never be without the help of the supreme ruler Jesus Christ. He loves us and wants to save us from sin. To give us this gift of salvation, Jesus Christ died for us. You receive this gift by faith alone. You demonstrate this gift by genuine repentance and changed actions in your life. Romans 10:9 says “If you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
If you are choosing right now to believe that Jesus died for your sins and wants you to spend eternity with him in heaven, pray a prayer similar to this one:
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died to forgive me of my sins. I now accept Your offer of eternal life. Thank You for forgiving me of my sin. Thank You for my new life. From this day forward, I will choose to follow you.

If you just prayed that prayer, please let me know about it so I can pray for you in your walk with our Lord. If you have questions, feel free to ask them. I don’t know everything and I never will. But I do know that my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will return one day……… May God bless you all in your daily lives!

A unique look at Browncoats...

It's cool that costumers seem to be genuinely having a ball with the 'Independent' concept. Take a mix of period Wild West/American Civil War/Asiatic and Eastern styles and stir well with a hi-tech brush and you end up with all kinds of permutations and combos. Everything from Kaylee's Chinese jackets to Mal's space braces, Jayne's 'special' hat, and the Reaver rotters Madder Max cannibal chic...brilliant! And lot's more stuff in the new film to play with; notice that the Alliance squaddies no longer wear cast-off armour from the woeful Starship Troopers?

Anyway, I'm sure the Brownies would have a tremendous range of gear, being what seems to be a classic thrown together, under resourced, underdog military. There's also the effect that constant hard campaigning has on clothing....as dyes are weathered, field expedients are adopted to cope with local climatic conditions and tactical considerations.

I'm of the opinion (only applicable to myself, which is, after all, whom I'm costuming for) that the only thing that matters in making a Browncoat is that it be 'brown', which when you consider how many shades of brown there are allows quite a bit of room for interpretation.

Connooga 2009

Wow!! What a convention!!

I made it into Chattanooga on Thursday afternoon and started helping Todd, Josh, Darla and others setup the Connooga Dealers Hall. After many, many hours working, driving a golf cart around, setting up TV's for the Gamestop/Best Buy console gaming area- we finally came to 9 o'clock. Time for the Radio Cult show at Rhythm and Brews. And what a show!! Very high performance and a lot of talent. I absolutely love Ricky, Bambi and the others of Radio Cult!! Got to bed about 2am!

Friday morning...time to find Todd and hang signs for Connooga! More riding around in Golf carts running errands and then Lunch with Kathy and Jessica. Yummy- Fazolis! 1pm brought opening of registration and then 3pm the opening of Connooga. I was the Director of Exhibitor Hall Stage Operations and so I had to make sure everything was ready to go!

The rest of the weekend was such a blur!!
Between running the exhibit hall stage and making sure events got off to a good start, to looking around the exhibit hall itself for goodies, making sure the music and commercials weren't too loud and preparing for Saber Idol.... Oy Vey!!! But I wouldn't trade it for the world. The friendships I have made with the great crew and team from Connooga has made up my core friends and I can't thank them enough for really putting on a great con.

Alas, Connooga 2009 was my last stint as Co-Producer and Judge of Saber Idol. I would like to thank Rob for allowing me to play in his creation. It's been an exciting ride, my friend!
Connooga 2009 was also the start of an exciting new costuming venture. After being introduced to the Firefly TV series by CoFounder of Connooga Jeff Hickey, I have become obsessed with the Browncoats, Mal Reynolds, the crew of Serenity and being a Browncoat costumer. I unveiled my new look (albeit a rough draft) Saturday night of the con at the Monster Ball. Yes, it's a work in progress and I hope to have a completed Browncoat by DragonCon time.

Sunday's worship service put on by Fans For Christ was awesome and very spirit filled. Swordsman and Tink did a great job and Chase Masterson giving her testimony and singing was the icing on the cake! Ninjas vs. Pirates was the service theme and really fit the weekend.

So, here's to Todd, Jeff, Susan, Kelsie, Josh, Darla, Terry, Rob, Spitty, Goomba, 4x4, Kathy, Jessica, Maria and ALL the rest of Connooga's Staff and friends. Oh yeah!! Bambi and Ricky of Radio Cult--- THANK YOU for saving Saber Idol on Saturday night!! You guys ROCK!!

Connooga 2010? Oh yeah!! I cannot wait!!!!!!! And...my wife and son are coming!!

Does this mean I have stopped being a Jedi and a Jedi costumer? NO!! This just means that I am exploring something different. The Force will always be with me!!

I need to take a moment and clarify a statement I made on Facebook. I am in no way giving up on being a "Jedi". I will always be a proud member of The Jedi Assembly and will continue to hold my status as its Founder in high regard. I have, however, after much thought and prayer decided it is time to take an extended sabbatical from current star wars activities and Jedi costuming as a whole. Also, due to current financial situations, I have decided to sell parts of my Jedi costume to make a little cash. I am keeping my Jedi robe, my Jedi belt, boots and lightsabers. These will eventually be passed onto my son when he decides to claim his Jedi heritage.
So there you have it. I am going thru some changes and I believe it is for the best. I appreciate everyones concern. May the force be with you!

A Time for Christmas...

Well, we just finished our Christmas play at First Baptist Church in Greeneville, TN. A Time for Christmas was presented over 4 nights with 5 performances. The picture shown is of myself, Gage Burke and Doug Wheeler as soldiers about to harass some Puritans worshiping during Christmas.
The play was phenomenal and very well received. Charles Foster, Director and Music Minister, and Jeannie Woolsey, Drama Director put together a great cast and an awesome witnessing and evangelical presentation. I was honored to have been the Assistant Drama Director and I shall never forget the friendships that I either made or strengthened because of this musical play. I am going to put a short video on Youtube that I recorded of Laura Taliaferro singing "O Holy Night" from the play. I am still in awe of her beautiful voice and great acting ability. Here's to everyone who was either involved onstage or off to present this great Christmas play to Greeneville and surrounding areas. To God be the Glory!!

Election Day...

Well, tomorrow is the day. November 4th, 2008. A day, I think, WILL go down in history.
Will McCain or Obama win? I don't know... I am a supporter of John McCain and I hope he wins. If Barack Hussein Obama wins, it will start in motion a series of events that I think will ultimately begin the End times foretold in the Bible. Is Obama the AntiChrist? Who Knows... I don't think so and It's not for me or anyone to know.
I do know this...no matter what happens- God and His son Jesus Christ is STILL on His throne as he has always been.

Why I Can't Vote For Obama

Dear Friends,
A few months ago I was asked for my perspective on Obama, I sent out an email with a few points. With the election just around the corner I decided to complete my perspective. Those of you on my e-list have seen some of this before but it's worth repeating..

First I must say whoever wins the election will have my prayer support. Obama needs to be commended for his accomplishments but I need to explain why I will not be voting for him.
Many of my friends process their identity through their blackness.
I process my identity through Christ. Being a Christian (a Christ follower) means He leads I follow. I can't dictate the terms He does because He is the leader.

I can't vote black because I am black, I have to vote Christian because that's who I am. Christian first, black second. Neither should anyone from the other ethnic groups vote because of ethnicity. 200 years from now I won't be asked if I was black or white. I will be asked if I knew Jesus and accepted Him as Lord and Savior.

In an election there are many issues to consider but when a society gets abortion, same-sex marriage, embryonic stem-cell research, human cloning to name a few, wrong economic concerns will soon not matter.

We need to follow Martin Luther King's words, don't judge someone by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I don't know Obama so all I can go off is his voting record.

His voting record earned him the title of the most liberal senator in the US Senate in 2007.

To beat Ted Kennedy and Hilary Clinton as the most liberal senator, takes some doing.
Obama accomplished this feat in 2 short years. I wonder what would happen to America if he had four years to work with.
There is a reason planned parenthood gives him a 100 % rating.
There is a reason the homosexual community supports him.
There is a reason Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Castro, Hamas etc. love him.
There is a reason he said he would nominate liberal judges to the Supreme Court.
There is a reason he voted against the infanticide bill.
There is a reason he voted No on the constitutional ban of same-sex marriage.
There is a reason he voted No on banning partial birth abortion.
There is a reason he voted No on confirming Justices Roberts and Alito. These two judges are conservatives and they have since overturned partial birth abortion. The same practice Obama wanted to continue.
Lets take a look at the practice he wanted to continue.

The 5 Step Partial Birth Abortion procedure
A. Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby's leg with forceps.
(Remember this is a live baby)
B. The baby's leg is pulled out into the birth canal.
C. The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head.
D. The abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole.
E. The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child's brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.
God help him.

There is a reason Obama opposed the parental notification law.
Think about this: you can't give a kid an aspirin without parental notification but that same kid can have an abortion without parental notification. This is insane.

There is a reason he went to Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years.
Obama tells us he has good judgment but he sat under Jeremiah Wright teaching for 20 years. Now he is condemning Wright's sermons. I wonder why now?

Obama said Jeremiah Wright led him to the Lord and discipled him. A disciple is one in training. Jesus told us in Matt hew 28:19 - 20 'Go and make disciples of all nations.' This means reproduce yourself. Teach people to think like you, walk like you, talk like you believe what you believe etc. The question I have is what did Jeremiah Wright teach him?

Would you support a White President who went to a church which has tenets that said they have a:
1. Commitment to the White Community
2. Commitment to the White Family
3. Adherence to the White Work Ethic
4. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the White Community .
5. Pledge to Allocate Regularly , a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting White Institutions
6. Pledge allegiance to all White leadership who espouse and embrace the White Value System
7. Personal commitment to embracement of the White Value System.
Would you support a President who went to a church like that?
Just change the word from white to black and you have the tenets of Obama's former church. If President Bush was a member of a church like this, he would be called a racist. Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton would have been marching outside.

This kind of church is a racist church. Obama did not wake up after 20 years and just discovered he went to a racist church. The church can't be about race. Jesus did not come for any particular race. He came for the whole world.

A church can't have a value system based on race. The churches value system has to be based on biblical mandate. It does not matter if its a white church or a black church it's still wrong. Anyone from either race that attends a church like this would never get my vote.

Obama's former Pastor Jeremiah Wright is a disciple of liberal theologian James Cone, author of the 1970 book A Black Theology of Liberation. Cone once wrote: 'Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him.

Cone is the man Obama's mentor looks up to. Does Obama believe this?
So what does all this mean for the nation?

In the past when the Lord brought someone with the beliefs of Obama to lead a nation it meant one thing - judgment.

Read 1 Samuel 8 when Israel asked for a king.
First God says in 1 Samuel 1:9 'Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do.'
Then God says
1 Samuel 1:18 ' When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day.' 19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. 'No!' they said. 'We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.' 21 When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD. 22 The LORD answered, 'Listen to them and give them a king.'

Here is what we know for sure.
God is not schizophrenic
He would not tell one person to vote for Obama and one to vote for McCain. As the scripture says, a city divided against itself cannot stand, so obviously many people are not hearing from God.
Maybe I am the one not hearing but I know God does not change and Obama contradicts many things I read in scripture so I doubt it.

For all my friends who are voting for Obama can you really look God in the face and say; Father based on your word, I am voting for Obama even though I know he will continue the genocidal practice of partial birth abortion. He might have to nominate three or four supreme court justices, and I am sure he will be nominating liberal judges who will be making laws that are against you. I also know he will continue to push for homosexual rights, even though you destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for this. I know I can look the other way because of the economy.

I could not see Jesus agreeing with many of Obama's positions. Finally I have two questions for all my liberal friends.
Since we know someone's value system has to be placed on the nation,
1. Whose value system should be placed on the nation.
2. Who should determine that this is the right value system for the nation?

My friends,
As you know, I have been extremely busy what with work, a 4 1/2 year old, a marriage and now with the holidays- it's going to keep getting busier.

It is with many prayers, many hours of worry and thinking about this, but I am going to have to step down completely from the Jedi Council of The Jedi Assembly costuming group. I can no longer put into my position as a Council member the time and talents that I should.

And I will tell you why...
I have felt for sometime a calling from God to go into some sort of ministry for his glory. I have decided to do just that with a focus on Missions/Evangelism in regards to Multifandom Convention goers who don't know the saving grace of Jesus Christ. It will not be an easy road, but with much prayer and support- I know that thru Christ I can accomplish anything.

So what does this mean? Does this mean I am leaving the organization high and dry? NO!!! I have spoken with our very capable Leader Xana and she knows of my stepping down from the Council. I will still retain my membership although, my status on the main site and MB will need to be changed. I have also told Xana that I will still carry the cost of the TJA URL at renewal time. Will I be attending conventions in costume? I hope to free up some time for next year's AdventureCon and DragonCon, but I am not sure. I know that most of you know my affiliation with Saber Idol. I'm sure some people may think I am quitting TJA to work solely on SI. Although I am dedicated to working on Saber Idol ,it is NOT my sole purpose. The possibility of a Ministry is the main driving force and other than my family- nothing else.

I cherish the Jedi Assembly like family. We have been together for over 5 years and seen us grow from a few to many. I owe them a lot and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. This is not goodbye...

The upcoming election is the most critical election in the history of our nation. The very future of our nation’s foundation is at stake. Every person will be affected. If the liberals win, then our foundation will no longer be based on the traditional Judeo-Christian morality. It will gradually but assuredly be based on an ever shifting, ever moving foundation. If the liberals win, the damage can’t be stopped with elections two, four or forty years from now. America will forever be changed. We will keep seeing a gradual and growing hostility toward people of faith, especially Christians. The morals of our nation will continue to decline. I cannot overstate the damage a liberal victory will do to our country. The upcoming election is the most important in the history of our nation. Yes, if the liberals win you will lose some of your religious freedoms and free speech rights. Churches and pastors will not be exempt. You will not be allowed to say certain things about a particular group. Every item of the homosexual agenda will be approved. All the laws protecting the unborn will be wiped away.
I cannot overemphasize the importance of the Nov. 4 election. That is why I urge you to vote and encourage your family members, friends, Sunday School class and church members to vote. America’s future – the future of your children and grandchildren – is at stake.

We live in a time where the future for many on this planet is so uncertain. We pay a high rate for gas and electricity, many face job cuts and losses, disasters happens ,it seems, every few weeks and our enemies are knocking at our door planning our destruction. The Pastor Rick Warren stated that life is a series of problems. Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're ready to go into another one.

But now is not the time to despair- NOW is the time to rejoice!! I am here today to remind you of the Good News that we have in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!! I know that no matter what this world throws at us, that our Saviour can in fact meet it head on and turn that despair into peace.

2 Corinthians 4:8
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

This very passage reflects the very attitude of what we face everyday. And it also states that we will not be crushed or destroyed. This assurance can be met with the forgiveness of the cross and the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for you and me. When Roman soldiers stretched out his hands to nail them to a cross, it was not his hands that he saw being nailed- but Anthony's, Pam's - Diane's Mark's Sherry's Bruce's and so many others thruout time.

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold

It is Jesus Christ and him only who liberates us from the moments where we think we cannot go on. It is Jesus Christ, and only, Jesus Christ that can bring change to our hearts and provide shelter for our souls.

So, in closing, I urge you- In the Happy Moments- Praise God
In the Difficult Moments- Seek God
In the Quiet Moments- Worship God
In the Painful Moments- Trust God

And in Every Moment - Thank God!

I have decided to delete my MySpace account. I have grown tired of the consistent need to attend to my page and my account. I have enjoyed meeting new friends and talking with a lot of people. However, due to lack of time I cannot keep my site up to date like it should be.
I also have tired of the tireless barrage of secular messages that continue to frame the MySpace sites. I am trying to purge myself of these types of messages and images and to do that, I feel that this is a necessary step. I will continue to have a presence on Facebook.

Anthony Foister was born in 1973 in a Tennessee small town called Jefferson City. After attending Carson Newman College and entering the workforce, Anthony began to imagine how he could create a fan group to share his love of the Star Wars movies. Several years passed and after marrying his beautiful wife Pamela, the Jedi Assembly was born out of hard work, sweat and tears. The Jedi Assembly is now an International Jedi costuming organization that continues to grow with leaps and bounds everyday. I had a vivid dream two nights ago. You might say I had a directive given to me. Just like Yoda telling Luke that he must confront Vader, I believe that God has told me that I must confront my Father. Is this to be a confrontational visit? No, it will be a visit that gives me a chance to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with him. I as a Christian must do this, not for myself but for his eternal soul.

Well, Pamela Daniel, Jessica, Kathy and myself saw Clone Wars this evening. Very, very cool!!
Great animation, great story!! Awesome job with the voice acting and of course, the integrated computer special effects.
I was, however, disappointed with the cuss word uttered by a Clone Trooper. I know it was a PG movie, but goodness sakes- the word had NO place in that movie.
We celebrated in style going to see the movie. I bought Daniel two new Star Wars shirts and Pamela bought him Clone Wars pajamas to wear tonight.

All in all, we had a good time and it seems the Star Wars universe continues on and on and on...

Well, not much time to write. So very tired all the time right now. Job killing me, but I have great hours and pretty good pay. For the economy and gas prices, it's doable.
I had to see my best friend off last week as he moved to Chattanooga. Rob Metcalfe is starting a new life and I wish him the best. God be with you Rob!!
I am feeling led to do some sort of ministry for MultiFandom convention goers. I really don't know what the Lord has in store for me, I just know that I HAVE to do something for His kingdom.

I have two confessions to make. Nothing terrible, but notable nonetheless.

#1 I HATE my job!! Being a Dept. Manager at WalMart is not a bed of roses. Workload after workload is dumped upon me, paperwork never seems to get caught up and hardly no one ever helps me because they have tons of stuff to do themselves. Mgmt can only whine and moan, but never-never help out. The money is good, the hours great... but once again it justifies me wanting out of there. Economy bad- gas prices BAD- WalMart BAD!!!!
God help me!

#2 I am addicted wholeheartedly to my cellphone... a Blackberry Pearl 8100. I check it every few minutes to see if I have a new text message or email. I check my newsreader Viigo to see what the latest Crackberry- I mean Blackberry news is or what the weather is going to be. I love to hold it, look at it, text on it and show it off. I told the associate at AT&T that sold me my Blackberry that it was like he was a dealer... a dealer who sold me my Crack/berry!! lol

Saber Idol just gets better and better as we prepare for DragonCon 2008. Roads are being forged and contacts are being made. Cathy from the Matters of the Force at DragonCon has really been helpful and open to what we would like to do at DC. Rob and I have been working feverishly to bring the best show we can to DC 08. Todd Patton, Co-Con Chairman of Connooga has accepted our offer to become a partner in this venture we call Saber Idol. Welcome aboard Todd!!

Department Manager musings...

Well, it's Thursday- 4 days since I took over as DM of paper goods/chemicals at Walmart. I am so happy that I am no longer a CSM upfront!!
DM work...very tiring with a lot of heavy lifting. But give me a couple of weeks and I will have all the kinks worked out and my dept all taken care of.
I am very pleased that I now work 6am-3pm... it allows me to actually have a family life!!
I just need to thank God that he kept me strong during the past year while I was so unhappy as a CSM. He truly opens windows when doors are closed.
Also, a very big thank you to Pam for keeping me sane and supporting me while I searched for a new job and decided to take this new position as a DM.
I love you Pam!!!

My last day...

Well I sit here just minutes from going to work. This will be my last day as a Customer Service Manager at WalMart. Monday I take over as Department Manager of Paper Goods/Chemicals with a great shift of M-F 6am-3pm. It's been over 6 years since I worked a steady 1st shift. The only reason I ever took a second shift position and fought long and hard to kep it was because of Daniel being born. But he's older now (5 in Feb of 09) and my Mom will take care of him during the day.

With a 1st shift, my wife-Pam and I can truly feel like a couple again and provide a steady family life for Daniel. I shall miss working hand in hand with the great cashiers and associates from the front end. They bust their tails everyday. And if it wasn't for that hard work, I could never have done what I had to do as a CSM either.

So goodbye CSM Walmart 2nd shift...hello to the future and new prospective!

Well I am happy to report that on May 16th, I will cease to be a CSM at WalMart Greeneville. I will take over as Department Manager of Chemicals/Paper Goods on May 19th. And I couldn't be happier!!! No longer will I have to deal with schedules and flow charts, on who needs what and how many people needs breaks, how short handed we always are. I will only have to worry about myself and my three aisles of product.
I can also say that the success I have enjoyed as a CSM only came thru the power of Christ who strengthens me. And it is that same power that will allow me to succeed as a Dept. manager.

Folks, the more I delve into what makes a Blackberry cellphone great the more fun I have. Google has some great mobile tools to install for your Blackberry and I just now came across something that gives my Pearl a little "flash".

It's called ColorPearl from GeekandProud.net

This nifty little app will change the LED colors to your choosing and it doesn't cost a thing!

It's not a necessary application to make the phone work or perform better, but it's certainly cool eye candy. I have mine switched to Saber Idol blue!!

Oh snap!!

Saber Idol has exceeded our wildest expectations. What started out as a idea for a very entertaining show has now turned into a possible franchise and certainly a life altering event. I couldn't be happier!!

Rob Metcalfe had a clear vision when he thought of the idea of this grand Lightsaber competition that would surpass anything that has ever been seen onstage at Fandom conventions. It has been with perseverance and grace that Saber Idol has finally come to fruition.

Saber Idol went public at Connooga convention on February 23rd, 2008 at 5pm when the Centennial theater filled with 200-300 people. Congoers enjoyed the banter among the Judges and Host. Who were these 4? The Judges are a very eclectic group which include myself (stage name Tanthos Jorlac), Jessica Seay (Jade Starlighter- the fan's Judge) and Adrian Havens (the Simon Cowell character) who is Rob's saber master. Rob was right when he picked us to judge as the chemistry shows from the start. Who was the Host? None other than Rob Metcalfe, the brains behind the Saber Idol concept.

After an hour and half competition, the Saber Idol Champion was crowned. Christopher Shore became the first Champion in a long line of future Saber Idol Champions that I will help crown at subsequent events. Congrats Christopher, you certainly deserved it!!

A big thank you to our Guest Judges for the final round of competition. Felix Sila, Suzi Lorraine and Donovan Wigley were a great addition to our judges table and the fans received their comments well.

Connooga 2008...

Well, what can I say? Connooga finished this past weekend of Feb 21-24 and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. The con probably saw about 800-900 people which is fantastic for a first year con.

Rob and I really feel close to the people and organizers of this great convention. We started helping with this con almost a year ago and it's definitely been a very satisfying ride to see this con come to fruition.

From the first moment that my partner and I arrived, we were so excited to see what this con would bring to the table as far as conventions go. We had been to meetings and supported what the staff of Connooga had prepared for the congoers.

The Choo Choo has a lovely lobby and we gladly checked in with great anticipation for the start of the con. We couldn't even sleep till about5am. 8:30am came early and we arose to start planning our day. I must admit that the con was layed out over a HUGE complex that is the Choo Choo which did complicate going to and from certain events, but that is the best Connooga can do with what they are handed in having the con at the Choo Choo. Luckily, shuttles were running to different areas of the hotel and Rob and I took advantage of it regularly.

We enjoyed the variety of vendors and the many different panels and seminars. Connooga was very open to being "by the fans- for the fans" and allowed Rob to host 2 different saber training classes which saw about 10 people each class. Of course, the greatest show at Connooga was Saber Idol, but that's for another blog!

The registration lines were short, Connooga TV was great, the fans and staff were awesome, Security rocked, the celebs were out of this world, Radio Cult ruled the stage and I will always go to Connooga with a smile on my face and a bounce to my step knowing that the fans will be well taken care of at this Chattanooga based con.

Connooga 2009... here I come!!

I seems I can't stop eating!!
A donut here, a piece of pie there, multiple helpings everywhere!!
Like tonight for supper- I had a 4 piece chicken nugget, 2 dbl cheeseburgers and a medium fry. And it had to come from none other than McDonalds.

I am at least 30-40lbs overweight.
I am sooo addicted to food! It has gotten harder and harder to fit into my Jedi costume and gear and now that I have started costuming as the Hitman- my suit is extremely tight.

The answer? Prayer, giving it to God, exercise (what's that?) and diet.

I MUST commit to a change of lifestyle. Not only for my wife a son, but for costuming sake and a piece of mind!!

The Hitman returneth...

I know what I said before... I was going to give up on the Hitman costuming idea. But after dressing the part and being included in pre-Connooga planning (ConBoyz music videos- don't ask!) I have once again fallen in love (is that the right term?) with the character and costume.

I had already deleted everything I had on the Hitman several weeks ago and I am just now getting reacquainted with the few websites that have any info on the costume, weapons and character of the Hitman.

I had started my own "How-to" website before I got disillusioned with the whole idea and concept of The Hitman.

But like I said before, after getting suited up as that character, I have decided to once again reinvest my costuming energies as the Hitman.

Does this mean I am going to stop dressing as a Jedi? Will I drop my Jedi name Tanthos Jorlac? NO!!! I have been dressing as a Jedi for almost 6 years and I feel like I need a rest. I do have some activities at Connooga that will require me to costume as a Jedi and as the Founder of the Jedi Assembly. But I will spend quite a bit more time dressed like the assassin.

Now onto the final question. Does costuming as an assassin like the Hitman conflict with my creed as a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ? I do not want to say and act one way and then portray myself as this type of character and be called a hypocrite. Much discussion and reflection this will bring...

In the meantime... Fear me!!! But with a smile on your face!!

As we prepare to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary in May, I just want to thank you for all your support, all your unconditional love, all of YOU!!

You and Daniel are what keeps me going in the tough times- when work or life in general gets me down. If it wasn't for you and what Jesus has in store for us as a couple, I don't know how I could go on.

My, my, my where has the time gone? The last time I turned around, I was eating turkey and dressing with the family and now it's Jan 2nd 2008!! Egads!!

Well, to try and update things. Thanksgiving came and went and it was time to get ready for Christmas. Pam and I killed ourselves scurrying all over creation to get the chosen toys for Daniel from "Santa". He had a blast Christmas morn opening gifts. I've got video I need to put on YouTube pretty soon. Got some great gifts for myself. Thank Pam, Mom and Dana. The New King James version leather Bible is extremely nice!! Ate too much and worked too much. WalMart was do able, but I still want out of there.

I had to work on New Year's eve, so I didn't get to be with the family as the ball dropped. You know what they say- Whatever you're doing at midnight New Year's Eve, is what you'll be doing the rest of the year. Well it better not be at WalMart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

As far as my spiritual life, I am still fervently set on becoming a Christian speaker for Christ!! I am going to try and meet with my Pastor and assistant Pastor in the next few days to discuss what the Lord has laid on my heart. That burden is to speak to the Youth of today and tomorrow about the dangers of this world and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. I am so enamored by the group at Teen Mania Ministries (www.BattleCry.com) and Acquire the Fire and how they are facing the enemy head on and going into battle for the Youth of this world. Certainly, someone needs to stand up for them and I want to be included in that fight!!

I am very thankful for my friends Rob, Kathy and Jessica and what they mean to me.
It's almost time to put the finishing touches on Saber Idol and Connooga convention. Pretty nervous about that!!

Well, I guess that's about it. If it wasn't for my wife- my sweet loving wife and my awesome son Daniel and the support of my mom and Aunt, I couldn't do what I do, day to day.

December happenings...

Christmas is around the corner and we still have a few gifts to purchase. I bought Daniel's bike last night and I hope he really likes it. I am going with Michelle and Carla from church to deliver presents to an adopted family for Christmas. That is always exciting and satisfying!!
This past week has been rough due to Pam and Daniel both being very sick. Work continues to stifle my life and give me unheard of grief. But thru all this, God is still Great!!

I am still working with my Lord to absorb everything I can regarding His Word and evangelism. I have ordered two books about Battle Cry and I can't wait till they get here. I hope to be able to talk with both my pastor and my Uncle Bruce (who's a pastor as well) in the next few weeks about my desire to become a "sword" for the Lord.

Old costuming sites, links, and everything dedicated to the Hitman. I know, you are scratching your head saying- "But previously you posted that you had fallen in love with the Hitman costume and such and are going to recreate it for convention use". Well the bigger question is does the costume and what it stands for plus the time it takes to work on it and the accompanying website glorify God?
No... it doesn't. I still plan on seeing the movie with some friends next week, but the Hitman costume journey is now over.

For some time now, I have been continuing to struggle with what I think God wants me to do in my life. Previous posts have revealed that I have been thinking about going into some sort of Christian public speaking.

Well, as of yesterday I believe I have discerned God's plan for my life. Not only am I to home school my child (more on that later), but I am to create a message for Him using the theme of the Armor of God- Ephesians 6:10-18

This message will incorporate my testimony, costuming, theatrical elements, witnessing, a theologically sound discussion and message, etc.

I ask for many prayers during this formative time as I craft a Message that is worthy of His pleasure.

2007 Star Wars 30th Anniversary
Memories of that Galaxy Far, Far Away...

2007. Why is this a significant year? Because it's the 30th anniversary of the release of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and the beginning of the Star Wars phenomena as we know it.

Star Wars. Just the name brings a racing of the pulse to some, a quickening of the imagination and fond memories to most. For others it stands for adventure, excitement and romance. For me- it stands for my life. Am I obsessed with Star Wars? You could say that!! My name is Anthony Foister and this is my story.

It was 1977 and I was three years old when I first saw Star Wars before it was titled A New Hope. I knew nothing about the movie before going to see it nor could I comprehend what truly lay in store for me and my mother as we entered a darkened theater in Morristown, TN. My senses were suddenly bombarded by that now familiar worded crawl and the great musical score that has since accompanied my life. There before me a racing starship fled from the massive war vessel of an Imperial Star Destroyer. The sheer immensity of the Star Destroyer filled the screen and I knew that this movie would be unlike anything that I would ever see again. The sights throughout the movie were incredible and the lessons that it taught were invaluable to me as a three going on four year old. I learned that it doesn’t take an overwhelming force to overcome an apparent evil- that greatness can lay in even the simplest places. A New Hope expanded my views of right and wrong and how best to enjoy the fantasy of a Galaxy totally unlike the one I lived in.

When The Empire Strikes Back was released, all I could do was set on the edge of my seat minute by minute as the most sinister actions were shown on the big screen. The Empire was creating havoc for the Rebels and my hero Luke Skywalker had learned that his Father was the enigmatic and evil Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader. Episode V truly is the greatest sequel to have ever been produced!

Return of the Jedi completed the original trilogy and wrapped up six years of exciting, swashbuckling fun. Darth Vader had been redeemed and the Empire defeated. Needless to say, I was more than emotional when the Force ghosts of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda appeared to Luke and the credits rolled after a roaring crescendo of music. Would this be the last of the Star Wars saga or would it continue in some other form? We would have to wait almost a decade before that question would be answered.

Star Wars was brought back to the forefront of the public’s conscience when books published by Timothy Zahn would kick start the phenomena all over again. Where once Star Wars grew stale with comic books and limited literature, the Zahn Thrawn trilogy reinvigorated fandom for many years until George Lucas reissued the original trilogy as the special editions and prepared to film Episodes 1-3, which became known as the Prequels.

The Prequels told the tale of how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader and how the Emperor came into power and defeated the Jedi Order. This was an exciting time for me as I became more and more obsessed with wanting to start my own Fan Club with something –anything to do with Star Wars and the Jedi Knights. After reading an article about the Fighting 501st Stormtrooper costuming group in a Star Wars Insider magazine, I knew that I too could start a Jedi costuming organization. I named the group The Jedi Assembly and to this date we have over three hundred members worldwide. We participate in charity fundraisers around the world, march in parades, attend conventions and enjoy the whole aspect of costuming as Jedi.

It all boils down to this. The Star Wars phenomenon is pure escapism that allows one to truly set back and forget the cares of the world and the day to day grind. The Star Wars saga has allowed me to indulge myself in a kind of walking fantasy that will continue to both amaze and entertain me for many more years to come. I also can look forward to passing all that I know and love about Star Wars down to my son Daniel who will be four in just a few short months. He already enjoys picking up his Hasbro Lightsaber and whacking his Dad or throwing some Sith lightning with a Force push thrown in for good measure.

After 30 years, Star Wars has stood the test of time. It has entertained millions of people all over the world and moved most people in the direction of unimaginable creativity. For me, it has allowed me to remain a kid at heart. A big kid with a Lightsaber hanging from my belt and an ever watchful eye on that Galaxy far, far away…

I have been struggling for a long time in trying to understand my purpose in life. This would be in direct reference to what Christ would have me do for the Glory of him and his Kingdom.

I have started speaking at church and have really enjoyed it. I have always had a thing for public speaking and having the opportunity to do so lately has reignited the fire within.

I have for some time been working on a sermon/speech/testimony that I have not completed or really know what to do with it.

I'm getting the feeling that God wants me to finish it and bring it to the masses. Specifically, a message aimed towards the youth of today. I have been invited to speak at my church's Men's meeting that takes place every Monday at 11am. I believe I will try and get a version of this speech/testimony prepared for that and then see where the Lord leads me.
I really can see me being an opening act for a Christian band or speaking to a large group of youth traveling around the area to do so.

This all is in the Lord's hands. I just need to be receptive to what he wants me to do.

I started my day doing some housework and after completing the tasks I needed to do, I decided to surf YouTube. I came across some Video Blogs, which were highly entertaining and informative. I then decided I would try my hand at it. I set up my Kodak camera and filmed a short video of me talking. When I tried to upload it to YouTube, I found out that my vid was too large to upload and needed to be compressed. I have no programs that will do that. So...I am just going to stick with Blogging... apparently...yeah- ok...

Hitman...

Hitman... It seems weird that I have fallen for this type of genre doesn't it? I mean, I have always loved a good shoot em up movie or storyline. But a character that kills people? Come on!! I'm supposed to be the one who's always into Star Wars and sci-fi and such, but this?? LOL

So anyway... I don't have the video games nor have I ever played them. But after wanting to do something different in costuming and since I am Bald... I came across the Hitman. Plus, the movie comes out next month!
Now I am going to try and duplicate his costume to it's entirety. This will include the guns and tattoo on the back of his head. I have started a Google Groups site ( http://groups.google.com/group/hitman-costumers ) as well to document the creation of the "look". I hope that others will join me in getting the Hitman off the ground. I'm pretty sure that DragonCon will love this look.

My Testimony...

Well, I gave my Testimony last night at my church for the first time. I've been sick, so I think I did pretty well considering the circumstances and how I felt. I would like to thank my Mom, Aunt Dana, Connie (from Wal-Mart), her husband and close friend Jessica for coming to support me as I spoke. As always by my side was Pamela and Daniel. You both are my rock!!

Here is my Testimony that I gave at First Baptist Church on Weds October 17 2007:

Good evening!
First let me start off by saying how appreciative I am for Joey, Charles and David for allowing me to share my testimony tonight.

I was born in Jefferson City, Tennessee in 1973. My mother was a daughter of a Baptist minister, so I was brought up in a Southern Baptist church setting.
When I turned the age of 6 years old, and after a steady church relationship, hearing about God and his people plus the redeemer, Jesus Christ, I felt a tugging at my heart that it was time to invite the Lord into my life. I wanted to know Jesus more closely and I wanted to know that I could meet him and be with him in heaven when I died. This was all at the age of six. Now I know what some of you might be saying, “He was too young to make that decision on his own. He was just mimicking his parents way of religion and doing what they wanted.” I would have to disagree. I was very interested in the salvation concept and knew what it meant. Of course, this was all based on a 6 year old level. I wouldn’t fully understand the significance of this act and the calling that came with it until much later. I knelt down upon my knees in my bedroom and with my mom watching nearby, I asked Jesus to come into my heart. My uncle Bruce who is a minister in Knoxville was asked to come in and baptize me a few weeks later. I had reached the age of accountability and was saved!!
A few years went by and I thought that the Lord wanted me to be a preacher like my grandfather and uncle and to preach his word. Apparently God had other plans for my life for, as you know God’s wisdom is infinite and far greater than man’s.

My parents divorced after 23 years of marriage and we entered a rough time in our lives. We were left financially lacking and quite devastated by my father’s actions. My father had committed adultery with his cousin’s wife and forever destroyed what little relationship we had. I had never had what most families have in a Mother/Father/Child home. It was always my Mother and Aunt Dana who raised me and instilled the concepts that I live and breathe by today. Yes, we had it rough- Barely living paycheck to paycheck, scouring dumpsters behind local food stores for groceries, prying frozen scrap wood from a snow covered ground behind a factory for wood stove kindling. But even through all this- Jesus was always there to give comfort and to not let us take more than we could handle. I have now since come to the realization that thru Jesus Christ and the cross, that I can forgive my father for what he did to us and for the betrayal to my mother. Only thru God’s grace can that be accomplished! Do I need to tell my Father that? Yes, as a Christian man-I do. Maybe one day, God will allow our paths to cross again and I will heed his direction and share this with my father. Let me assure you, only thru Christ could I ever be able to take on such a task as that.

So back to my life...
I finished high school and started working at McDonalds. Due to my scheduling, I started missing Sunday Church all together. And even when I was off, I was too tired to make it to church. At least that was my excuse. It was during this time that I put Jesus in the “backseat” of my car and I took over the steering wheel once again. I started having stress problems and considerable anger issues. I would be so irritated at the littlest comment given to me by anyone at work or at home. I didn’t even think once to check my “rear view mirror” and see Jesus’ shining face looking back at me wanting to take back over the driving.
Now I don’t want to mislead you and make you think I got into drugs (though I was offered) or sexual immorality. I did become an angry young man without a purpose in life. I dropped out of college and became more interested in moving up the ranks of McDonald’s management and I started living a life without dependence upon God.
I met my beautiful wife, Pamela, while working at McDonalds. She also had been saved at an early age and was almost in the same boat as I. Her parents were divorced and we shared a lot of the same life experiences. Neither of us had lost our virginity and that was a source of pride with us both. We dated for several years before marrying (we celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary this past May) and then moved to Mosheim in Greene County after several more years. Unfortunately, the pattern of keeping God and his son in the back seat continued for us both. More time passed and I floated from job to job not knowing what God had planned for me because I wasn’t listening. My wife had found her niche as an art teacher at an elementary school. I on the other hand, had not finished college, had no degree, and felt like I had no purpose in life. I would occasionally think to pray when there was a serious illness in my life or some calamity would come up. But I wouldn’t keep him in focus like he wanted and needed to be. I finally broke down and acknowledged that I needed Christ once again in my life. I HAD to have him in charge of everything that I do and say. My wife and I got down on our knees in our bedroom one night and rededicated our life to him. A load was lifted from our minds as we once again let our Lord take over the driver’s seat again. I eventually landed a job at Wal-Mart with steady hours and a steady income. Many of you might know that I am currently and actively job seeking while I am still employed at WalMart. Pam has to continually remind me that God has a job with my name on it and to be patient for I am in my Father's hands.

The idea of having children was discussed frequently in our marriage, but we had always put any plans off. Partly because I didn’t feel comfortable bringing up a child in this world the way it is. I truly believe Jesus changed my heart and attitude towards having a child because we started seriously planning on having one over three and a half years ago. It only took three weeks of trying and our son was conceived. Then over nine months later, our son Daniel was born. Talk about a true blessing!! My wife and I continually thank God for this small child of happiness. We look forward each day to sharing the Lord’s love with him and bringing him up in the Christian way of life.
All of what I have been talking about has led to this. I now know that Jesus wants me to be his voice, his hands, and his heart. I am to tell everyone about him, to share his love with all I come into contact with. Will this be easy? No... but with Jesus' help and with my utter and complete surrender to his will- I can accomplish anything!

I don’t know everything and I never will. I do know that I am married to a wonderful woman sent straight from heaven just for me. I do know that our son Daniel is the light of our lives and we praise God everyday for him. I do know that I am saved by Faith and the acceptance of Jesus Christ into my life. I do know that when I die I will go to heaven and be with my Savior forever and ever.

I am a Father of Daniel- a son who shines with brilliance and joy. I am a Husband to Pamela- two people who are bonded to each other and who are bonded to Christ our Lord. I am a man- a man who lives by Faith and has the Holy Spirit dwell within him. I can do nothing without my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

So I ask you this: Do you know Jesus? If you died today, do you know where you will spend eternity? It’s very simple. We are all sinners. By our nature, our heart runs from God and rebels against him. We are not perfect and can never be without the help of the supreme ruler Jesus Christ. He loves us and wants to save us from sin. To give us this gift of salvation, Jesus Christ died for us. You receive this gift by faith alone. You demonstrate this gift by genuine repentance and changed actions in your life. Romans 10:9 says “If you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
So in closing, I would like to share a portion of a sermon presented by a pastor named S.M Lockridge which truly represents how I feel about my Lord and Saviour. This sermon should become a rallying call for all Christians now and until He returns again. We can no longer idly sit by and allow our morals, our faith, our Saviour to be misrepresented any longer. It is time to take a stand to reclaim this Earth for our Lord Jesus Christ!! Time is short on this earth. I believe that soon his majesty Jesus Christ will return and call his children and people to himself and judge the one’s who have refused to know him. Weight issues and eating right...

My wife and I have finally decided to get our butts in gear and modify our eating habits. Pamela has joined a Biggest Losers diet club at her Glenwood School. I am doing my best to support her and eat right. We have cut out sugar and are watching our carbs. It didn't help that I fixed fried chicken yesterday. But hey, it was in the freezer and had to be used.
My biggest thing I hate about eating right is that I have to give up Mcdonalds sweet (and I mean Sweet) tea and McDonalds fast food hamburgers.

This is something that has to be done or Pamela is going to get Diabetes and I'm just gonna die of a heart attack or stroke.

Keep us in your prayers as we modify our eating habits and hopefully with God's help take on a Healthier lifestyle!

Saber Idol...

What is Saber Idol you ask? Saber Idol is a concept that my good friend Rob Metcalfe, better known as Qui Kel Jinn in Star Wars Jedi costuming circles, brought life into a little over a year ago. It really wasn't until competing with me at the Master Replicas Combat Trials in Hollywood, CA in May and winning his division as Lightsaber Freestyle Champion that he realized that that kind of event was really missing something...an entertainment quotient! Rob began the quest to put together the concept of what Saber Idol has become. Along with myself and a few other close confidants, we have really put together what will be known as the next great convention competition on the planet!

So once again, what is Saber Idol?

Saber Idol is a "saber" contest designed around the format of popular American TV shows. Saber Idol will be an entertaining event for the entire family that is designed for the master saberman/saberwoman to show off his or her skills and talents. The competition is to be entered by individuals that have a set of pre-choreographed “saber” demonstrations that highlight one’s finesse without fighting. Demonstrations are set to musical themes chosen by the contestants themselves. This controlled and civilized demonstration will not only show the skill of the contestant, but their discipline, grace and flare for the dynamic and dramatic! The competition will be broken down into three rounds with convention attendees choosing the Saber Idol after live voting. Three Saber Idol judges will determine the initial eight contestants culled from videos submitted on YouTube and via mail.

What this all boils down into is a Family fun event with Lightsaber enthusiasts showing the public what they can do with a Lightsaber in a competiton setting.

It has been a blast coming this far in the planning stages of Saber Idol. I couldn't be happier working with Rob in a Co-Producer and Judge position of Saber Idol. He's been a great friend and an even greater Producer in charge of this whole experience. We've got some great Sponsors and a few more coming on board in the next few months. I want to give a special shout out to my wife Pamela for putting up with me when I have had to make a couple of long drives to Chattanooga for planning meetings and to the Board and Staff of Connooga convention for being so open about this whole competition and show.

Family Guy Star Wars edition...

Well I just watched the Star Wars Family Guy edition and I just had to comment on it!

First, going into this show- I knew that it was going to have risque humor. That's what Family Guy is. I don't watch the show, but after seeing the hype about it at SW Celebration IV I knew I had to see it. Hey, anything to do about Star Wars I wanna see. So I watched it at my friend Rob's house with a few other people as well.

The Good- Awesome animation. They took actual film footage and just imposed animation over the footage. Same camera angles and everything.
They used the soundtrack and a lot of sound effects. Great homage there!
It did have some funny pop culture references that were very funny- Dr. Who (Tom Baker), Airplane (Leslie Nielson), Danny Elfman, etc.

The Bad- Sexual innuendos galore, HOMOsexual innuendos galore. It was sickening how many times that Obi-Wan was portrayed as lusting after young Luke Skywalker. Also, a showing of a limp Lightsaber wielded by Obi-Wan in reference to his "member" only to stiffen when Luke comes into view was disgusting! I also noticed that there was some off color slanderous remark about Christianity, but I couldn't hear exactly what was said due to the noise in the room.

All in all, I wish I hadn't watched it. LucasFilm has really disappointed me in allowing this type of show to use their material. I just wonder how many kids watched this just because it was about our beloved Star Wars.

LFL and George Lucas has really dropped a few notches in my book...

I am BALD!!

This is an interesting sentence!! Anyone that knows me- knows that I am Bald. I choose to shave my head and I enjoy my look. My wife thinks I'm even sexier for keeping this clean look! But is there a deeper meaning to this sentence? I am BALD!!
I am struggling to put into words the meaning of this and all I can say right now is that it will shake the very core of my being and thrust me into something that only God can see me thru.

Greetings everyone!
First of all, I need to thank everyone who might be reading this particular blog at this time. I would say that this includes my Jedi Assembly friends and family. I wanted to announce this in an easy format and what better way than my blog.

For those who know me, I am very passionate about anything I do or say. This translates into my work ethic, the way I raise my child, how I perform as a husband to my wife and especially how I administrate my duties as CO and Founder of The Jedi Assembly. It has been five years of very hard work and constant hands on development that has allowed TJA to be where it is at today. I usually cannot go more than an hour into my day before I am checking the TJA message boards, sending out an email or two to prospective members, PMing TJA Council members, posting on other boards about TJA or help plan upcoming conventions that TJA might be interested in attending. I basically spend all of my free time working or planning for TJA instead of using my free time to work on house chores, spend learning time with my son, being romantic with my wife, etc. And as I'm sure you noticed, that takes a lot of time and attention.

Let me switch gears just a little bit and fill you in on what is taking place in my personal life. Now don't get me wrong, my marriage is wonderful. I couldn't ask for a better mate in my wonderful wife Pamela. She supports me in anything I do, even when it means jetting off to Los Angeles for 7 days for a Star Wars convention or going to a local con in Jedi costume and spending every waking moment promoting TJA-not getting any sleep at all. I have an awesome three and a half year old son, Daniel who I know will grow up to be a greater Jedi than his father could ever be. I am a Christian who knows that one day I will be going to heaven- safe and secure in my Father Jesus Christ's arms.
Now here's the rub. I have a very undesirable job. I am a Customer Service Manager at my local Wal-Mart. I have been there for 4 years and I now have the unpleasant task of finding another job. I am still employed at my Wal-Mart, but due to so many reasons that I won't bore anyone with, I have to get out and look for another career. This process has taken so much time and energy that I am continually drained from the process. Of course, I need to live by the advice -That which doesn't kill me only makes me stronger. :)
I work an opposite shift from my wife. She comes home from work and I leave for work two minutes later. We basically have no time at all for each other except for on Sundays when I am off. I also have had some health problems as of late. I am now on a modified eating plan for high triglycerides and I am on High Blood pressure medication. That part really sucks!
So what with Daniel getting older and needing more attention, Pamela needing her husband to be there in an affirmative and more loving role, daily chores at the house and home, the continual search for a new job and a intense desire to have a more personal relationship with Christ that includes better study habits with my Bible- it has come to this...

I have decided to step down as CO and creative controller of The Jedi Assembly. This decision does NOT come lightly. I have put my heart and soul into the Assembly and have really strived to make it the BEST costuming group on the Internet.
I cannot express how hard this "job" has become and the toll it has taken on me and my family.
Now please don't think that this means "the end of the Assembly"!! Because it doesn't! This just means that the Assembly is entering a new and positive phase of necessary growth. I have chosen Xana (Theresa) to take my place as CO and I have faith in her abilities to take this group in a great direction. She has been with me since about day two of creating this Assembly and I will forever be indebted to her friendship and creativity that she has given to me. The Jedi Council will stand as a group of 12 as I am staying on as a member of the Council, just not so much in the forefront. I will still be involved in conventions when I can, which could include table duties, seminars, parades, etc.

I hope everyone can understand my decision and support this choice I have made. Awesome members like you, reading this now, have truly helped me turn a small group of costumers into the third largest SW costuming group out there. I know in my heart it is time that I give my position to someone else that can bravely take the Jedi Assembly into 2008 and prepare it for what new cartoon series, books and a live action TV show can throw at us.

I will step down from my position effective January 1st 2008. For those who might have heard rumors of this coming from certain individuals during DragonCon, I apologize. I have spoken with the member and he has voiced his sincere apologies. I didn't want this coming out until after I spoke with the majority of Council members at DragonCon. Let me also reiterate that I have the support of the entire Council regarding this issue. They also know, just as I, that Xana will only bring good things to the Assembly and will not fail in her duties as CO of TJA.

As always, if anyone has any questions or comments-please feel free to email me or Xana and we will be happy to discuss any issues that you may be wanting to know more about.

It's been awhile...

Wow. I have just now had a little time to post an update on my blog.
Where to start?
Well let's see- I'm still overweight...still a Jedi...still a Father and Husband and still working for Wal-Mart.

Now to get into details.

Since I last posted, my plans to start eating right and exercising flew out the window. It seems I've started procrastinating in that department even more. I hope to make a resolution for New Year's that will allow me to stay with a plan and change my eating and exercising habits.

My job at Wal-Mart has gotten increasingly difficult. From longer hours to frustration with the way things are handled at my store, I at time wish I didn't work there. But I make too good a salary to quit now. I have bills to pay and my family to watch over.

Daniel is growing with leaps and bounds. He is sooo smart. He's singing songs and reading and coloring and being such a BIG boy! It's awesome and yet in the same breath scary because he's growing so fast.

The Jedi Assembly is still increasing in number. We're up to about 273 members right now. We just finished the Greeneville, TN Christmas parade and a fundraiser for Make A Wish Foundation of ET. I still love being the Founder and CO, but keeping up with events and the day to day administration of the group wears heavily upon me.

Christmas is almost here. A great season and great time to remember that a baby born not so long ago is the Savior of the world and that a great place is in Heaven for those who accept him and believe in him. I cannot do anything without him who strengthens me!!

Well that's about it for now. Gotta eat lunch and watch a little more of the reruns of FireFly, a pretty good show!!

You would think I would come to the conclusion sooner than later that my eating lifestyle is not that good!
I have started getting frequent migraine style headaches and I'm worn out more times than not. I currently weigh about 190lbs and it's time to shape up!!
I not only have an obligation to my lovely wife Pam and son Daniel to get healthy so I don't have a stroke, but to my Lord Jesus Christ who directs us to make a temple out of our bodies for him.
DragonCon is about 10 days out and I need to lose some of this weight to fit better into my Jedi outfit.
I am going to commit (you heard it here truebelievers) to doing basic TaiBo daily around 2pm, drink V8 juice to supplement veggies not eaten, drink more water...more I say lol and stay away from Mcd's and fried foods and sugar.
I owe this to my spouse, my Youngling son and to my God!!

Master Replicas Obi-Wan Kenobi ROTS FX Saber...

This fine piece of work you see before you is the 2006 Master Replica Obi-Wan Kenobi Revenge of the Sith FX Lightsaber.

I awoke last Thursday morning to find that the tracking number MR gave me said that FedEx would be delivering my saber a day earlier than expected. Excitement set in!As I prepared lunch for myself and my Youngling son Daniel, a noise outside announced that the FedEx truck was here! I literally ran to the door to meet the delivery woman, excitedly signed for the package and headed inside to open my bounty!! After making sure Daniel had lunch and wolfing down a quick bite myself, I opened the FX box. It was like opening the secrets to the Ming Dynasty treasure!The saber is indeed boxed in a very nice way with great Obi-Wan graphics and scripting. I gently removed tape and packing foam to reveal General Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber! As I picked it up, I noticed that IMHO it is slightly lighter than my Anakin ROTS but in no way as heavy as the Mace FX. The brightness of the hilts metals shone before my eyes and I gazed at it's awesome beauty. Hey...it's a piece of art- what can I say?The battery compartment screamed out my name so I replied with 3 AA Duracell Ultras and the blade sprang forth to pierce my darkened living room with blue piercing light! The blue blade does indeed seem brighter and is more of a purer blue. I was a little disappointed that the saber sounds are basically the same as the Anakins...but hey you can't have everything!The activation button slides upward on the activation box and seems difficult to shut off while dueling. I hope that doesn't change.The blade seems stronger and more secure than my Anakin and has no tightening screw that I know of. I hope I never have to tighten the blade!
This saber will become my personal sidekick at every convention and fundraiser that I attend as Founder of the online Jedi costuming organization, The Jedi Assembly. www.TheJediAssembly.com

Promisekeepers 2006...

This year's Promisekeepers theme was "Unleashed". I attended with fellow church member Rodney Freeman and we went to the Atlanta venue. Two days of excitement and getting to know Rodney more. He is an upstanding gentleman and a neat Christian man. Promisekeepers site can be found here:

AdventureCon Knoxville, TN 2006 Mission report

AdventureCon....all I can say is WOW!!
I had attended AdCon twice previously as a regular paying member, not as a representative of The Jedi Assembly. This would be the first time TJA would have a table at this con.
After several months of negotiations with the Admins at AdCon, we were granted a fan table. A while later I was contacted by Marcus Wollack and asked if I was interested in being in a documentary about AdCon. And what was my answer? Oh yeah!!!

After talking with Chris Dotson, we prepared to meet Chris and his film crew at a meeting place provided by Kathy Peters, mother of TJA member Jade Starlighter. The meeting went well and we gave the Doc guys some great footage of us preparing for our stint at AdCon. Footage was taken of us discussing the running of our fan table, a new costume being fitted for a new member Michael Cable and Lightsaber velocities and Choreography provided by Qui Kel Jinn (Rob Metcalfe).

About a month passed and we were finally prepared for AdCon. Jaryk Lyghtsyder and I drove to Knoxville, TN to pick up incoming MidWestern Order member Jan-Qui Corran from Illinois on the Thursday before the convention. After some delays, Jedi Corran arrived and we all went to a supper at Qui Kel's house. Good Food!!!!!!

Saturday the 24th of June---AdventureCon time!!! Myself, Jaryk Lyghtsyder, Yento Floop aka Jud Solo, Jade Starlighter, Kos Baphan, Faylana Torena and Daiskian Shaigo drove to K-town for the big con. And boy what a con it was!! And having Jan-Qui there made it even better. We set up our table early and got into Jedi Garb- ready to tackle the weekend. Our fan table consisted of individually painted Jedi Starfighter models painted by Jaryk Lyghtsyder, TJA tutorials book, a photo album with pics showing all the events and outing we have participated in lately and my laptop with TJA powerpoints running.

I saw Ray Park (Darth Maul) walk by our table and wave. How exciting! But it was to get even more exciting later that evening. We enjoyed our day at the table. We bought souvenirs like fan films, toys and posters. Several of my Jedi got autographs from the celebs. We also had fun dueling with our FX sabers out in the main concourse area of the convention center.

Qui Kel Jinn finally arrived after having to work part of that Saturday and then the fun really began! Jedi Jinn unleashed his mad saber skillz on the convention goers and we drew a lot of attention to both our saber choreography and our fan table. We even signed up 4 new members while we were there. The Fighting 501st invited us to troop with them around the con hall on the way to their group photo- that was nice! We even got to be in their group photo.

So Saturday started to wind down and the crowds got lessened. We all enjoyed having our pictures taken by the con goers and answering questions from potential new members...then it happened! Ray Park decided to stretch his autographing legs and arms and wanted to play with one of our FX sabers- I don't even remember whos it was now, but he started waving it around and joked about someone taking him on. I rushed at him- saber going for a leg sweep and he faked being scared and ran off!! We all had a good laugh and he came back over and then we started talking about putting on a small off the cuff spontaneous saber duel for the audience. The con documentary guys were drooling at the bit wanting to film that!! Ray wanted to use the double bladed lightsaber and one of the con goers produced one for him. Qui Kel and I were in the right place at the right time and was chosen by Ray to cross blades with him. What an honor!! The man is a consummate professional and gentleman and I couldn't have been more humbled by the experience. To saber duel with a Wushu Master and a Star Wars character actor-much less with a Lightsaber...it was a Star Wars lovers dream come true!!!!!!!! He evn autographed my Anakin FX saber and several other members items.

The excitement from the Ray Park duel ended our day and we parted ways from Jan-Qui as she headed back to her hotel and most of us drove back to our homes in Greene County. A lot of us had trouble sleeping because of all the excitement during the con on Saturday.

Sunday....time to wake up and head back to AdCon!! What would this day hold for us?? We arrived a little late this time, but Jud Solo had our backs and had the table all up and ready to go. I forgot to mention the TJA banner prominently displyed behind us. It looked fantastic!! Leda had shipped it to me last year for use locally and I just love using it. Anyway, the day progressed nicely with some more souvenir buying, fan costume picture taking, saber dueling and of course promoting TJA to the masses.

We were told that Ray Park might want to duel with Qui Kel and I again so we prepared by eating lunch and adorning ourselves in Jedi Robes. However, Ray was taken over to the 501st's table area where he put on an FX saber demo with a couple of their members. Jedi Qui Kel was able to join in and a great show was put on by all. Qui Kel Jinn can really move with a saber and I'm proud to have him as my teacher.

Sunday finally came to an end with a heavy rainstorm. We had a final group interview with the documentary crew and I can't wait till Road to AdventureCon- the documentary comes out. Ray once again autographed several TJA members things and we wished him well and took our leave of him. All that was left was to pack everything up and trudge back to the cars. We said some final goodbyes to Jan-Qui who was a real Jedi for traveling to TN to be with us, danced in a rain puddle (Myself and Daiskian Shaigo- much to the delight of Ray Park setting inside the hotel watching and laughing at us) and drove off into the rain soaked evening dreaming and planning for next year's AdventureCon 2007!!

A Bald Anthony...

Well, where to start? I have always been self conscious about my hair, or lack thereof. I have always had oily hair and after high school a receding hairline.
I have gotten the buzz cut several times and actually shaved my head about three times down to a stubble feel. It wasn't until I started seeing pictures of me in my Jedi costume at events with a HUGE bald spot that I started considering taking it all off.
I had heard about the Headblade from a friend at work and decided to check into it. After mentioning it to my wife, she bought me one for our 10 year anniversary. And what a gift to give!!
I use the Headblade usually once a day, sometimes two when I don't have to work. I use the Headslick shaving cream and the Headlube to shine it up afterwards.
It truly has given me a better self esteem and I couldn't be happier about my appearance. My Jedi friends have been calling me "Mace Whitedude" after the bald Jedi Mace Windu.
For anyone that suffers from a receding hairline or is considering shaving your head, I say go for it!! It will be the best decision you can make and the liberation is second to none!!
